Privacy policy.

Last updated: March 2026

This privacy policy explains how The Messy Art of Motherhood ("I", "me", "this website") collects, uses, and protects your personal data when you visit messyartofmotherhood.co.uk or sign up to the newsletter.

I take your privacy seriously. I will never sell your data, and I will only collect what I genuinely need.

Who I am

The Messy Art of Motherhood is run by Lou, a sole trader based in the United Kingdom. If you have any questions about this policy, you can contact me at: hello@messyartofmotherhood.co.uk

What data I collect and why

Newsletter signup
If you subscribe to the newsletter, I collect your email address. I use this to send you emails about parenting, money, personal growth, and relevant product recommendations. I use a third-party email platform (such as Mailchimp or similar) to manage this. You can unsubscribe at any time using the link in any email.

Contact form
If you get in touch via the contact form, I collect your name and email address so I can reply to you. This information is not stored beyond what is needed to respond.

Affiliate links
Some links on this site are affiliate links. If you click one and make a purchase, I may earn a small commission at no extra cost to you. I only recommend products I genuinely believe in. Clicking an affiliate link does not give me access to any of your personal data.

Analytics
I use Google Analytics to understand how visitors use this site (pages visited, time spent, referral sources). This data is aggregated and anonymous — I cannot identify you individually from it. Google Analytics uses cookies to collect this information. You can opt out using the Google Analytics opt-out browser add-on.

Pinterest Tag
I use the Pinterest Tag to measure how visitors from Pinterest interact with this site. This helps me understand which content resonates with my audience. You can manage your Pinterest ad preferences in your Pinterest account settings.

Cookies

This website uses cookies for analytics purposes (Google Analytics) and to remember your preferences. You can control cookies through your browser settings. Disabling cookies may affect some functionality of the site.

Your rights under UK GDPR

As a UK resident, you have the right to:

  • Access the personal data I hold about you

  • Request correction of inaccurate data

  • Request deletion of your data ("right to be forgotten")

  • Object to how I process your data

  • Withdraw consent at any time (e.g. by unsubscribing from the newsletter)

To exercise any of these rights, email me at hello@messyartofmotherhood.co.uk and I will respond within 30 days.

Third-party services

This site is hosted on Squarespace. Their privacy policy can be found at squarespace.com/privacy.

Email marketing I use Mailchimp to manage my newsletter list and send emails. When you subscribe, your email address is stored securely on Mailchimp's servers. Mailchimp is GDPR compliant and based in the US, operating under standard contractual clauses for data transfers. You can read their privacy policy at mailchimp.com/legal/privacy.

I also use Google Analytics and Pinterest, both of which have their own privacy policies.

Data retention

I keep your email address on my newsletter list until you unsubscribe or ask me to remove it. Contact form enquiries are kept only as long as needed to respond to your message.

Changes to this policy

I may update this policy from time to time. The date at the top of this page will always reflect the most recent version. Significant changes will be communicated via the newsletter.

Complaints

If you have concerns about how I handle your data, you can contact the UK's data protection authority, the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO), at ico.org.uk.
